Kiah Hardcastle is a postdoctoral fellow in the lab. As a PhD student with Lisa Giocomo and Surya Ganguli at Stanford, she used in vivo electrophysiology and computational models to study how neurons in the medial entorhinal cortex encode navigationally-relevant information, such as position and heading direction, to support spatial memory. In the Olveczky lab, she is interested in understanding how neural circuits in the motor system support the learning of new motor sequences, and the selection of the correct motor sequences for a given context, through the flexible assignment of values to actions.
